Job Description
Property/Processing Clerk - Part Time (24-28 hours weekly)
Nature of Work
Clerical duties in the Housing Authority Administrative office.
Illustrative Examples of Work
Compiles and maintains records of business transactions and office activities for the AHA, performs a variety of following or similar clerical duties and utilizing knowledge of systems or procedures:
- Responsible for assisting the Executive Director and Office Manager, primarily will oversee the administration of the waiting list, review application, and all supporting documentation
- Maintain the top three applicants ready for move-in, including all verifications current including tenant income, previous Landlord, credit and criminal background checks and any other necessary documents associated with move in or annual recertification.
- Reviews incoming tenant requests, vacancies, and notice mail outs as needed.
- Generates work orders as needed for tenants.
- Assists in all phases of Public, Affordable, and Assisted Housing programs property management.
- Assists the front desk reception area as needed.
- Assists with filing duties and reviewing files to ensure all documents required have been executed by tenant as required.
- Transmits notices to residents as required.
- Assists Executive Director in other areas as needed or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic skills in computer entries and typing. Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word.
- Good grammar skills.
- Ability to relate to the public with tact and patience.
- Ability to answer telephone in a professional manner and take accurate messages.
Training and Experience
- Graduation from a Standard High School or GED certificate.
- Experience in an office setting preferred.
- Experience with office equipment, including computers, FAX, and copiers.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervision
This position reports primarily to the Executive Director.
Preference is given to a highly motivated individual who is bilingual, interested in training and possible further education to gain experience and build a strong foundation for continued employment within the private or public sector.
Preference also given to an AHA assisted resident.
The majority of the employee's time is spent performing a specific task or filling a specific need at the convenience of the Authority. While legally mandated benefits, such as worker's compensation and Social Security may apply, sick leave and fringe benefits do not apply unless the position becomes full-time (over 30 hours per week).
